How To Read Your Report

Use the sample report and numbered key below as a guide.

1. Your Academic Community

This shows the college or program you were admitted to at Illinois.

2. Your Total Transfer Hours

Earned hours: The total number of hours you’ll have after your current term ends.

  • Fall applicants: Summer courses will be added after we receive your final, official transcript.

Graded hours: Transferable hours that have a letter grade.

Points: Grade points multiplied by course hours.

  • Example: An A is 4 points, so an A in a 3‑hour class = 12 points.

GPA: Calculated using only graded, transferable courses.

3. Your Previous Schools

For each school you’ve attended you’ll see your total transfer hours as outlined above.

For international schools, only earned hours are shown.

4. Courses That Need Review

Some classes transfer but may require a closer look. These will be marked as:

  • TACS, TAHS, TBUS, TCOM, TEDU, TENG, TFFA, TLAS, TSIS, TSWK

We’ll contact you to provide syllabi during the admission process.

5. Transferable Courses Without an Exact Match

These classes transfer but don’t match a specific Illinois course:

  • EPS 1–
  • GEOG 1–
  • KIN 1–

Talk with your advisor about how these can apply to your degree.

6. General Education Courses Without Exact Matches

These courses count toward general education requirements but don’t match a specific Illinois course:

  • UHIS 1–
  • UWCH 1–
  • UCI 1–

Your advisor can help you see where they fit.

7. Credit From A‑Levels

This section shows any credit awarded from Advanced‑Level exam results.

8. Nontransferable Courses

A course will not transfer if:

  • It’s not the type of class we teach (for example, vocational or doctrinal courses).
  • It’s remedial or not college‑level.
  • We don’t have enough information to determine transferability.

You may submit a syllabus from the term you took the course, but please note that these decisions rarely change.

9. Test Credit That Does Not Transfer

Test credit from another college will not transfer if:

  • You earned fewer than 12 graded semester hours at that school, or
  • You did not complete higher‑level coursework in the same subject at that school.

If the test scores were AP, IB, ACT, or SAT, send official scores directly to Illinois so we can review them.

If the credit came from a proficiency exam, contact us to ask whether you can take a similar exam here.
