Accept/Decline

Accept your admission by paying the $150 nonrefundable acceptance fee (waived with an application fee waiver) to unlock most checklist steps; financial aid can be applied for and viewed anytime.

NetID & Computing

In order to register for courses, you must claim and set your NetID and NetID password once you’ve accepted your offer of admission. You’ll frequently use your NetID to access resources on campus. To claim and set your NetID and NetID password, you need your Activation Code and University Identification Number (UIN), both of which are available when you log in to myIllini.

Financial Aid

If you’re interested in financial aid, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible and have the FAFSA information sent to Illinois. International students are not eligible for financial aid and don’t submit the FAFSA. If you’re an Illinois resident who isn’t otherwise eligible for federal financial aid, you can submit the Alternative Application for Illinois Financial Aid.

Housing

Transfer students who have completed less than 30 credit hours and first-year students must live in University Housing or Private Certified Housing. More information about housing policies is available in the student code.

You should wait 24 hours after accepting the university’s offer of admission before applying for University Housing. At that time, you may complete your contract online with your housing advance payment, or apply online with a Private Certified Housing facility. Private Certified Housing halls fill on a first-come, first-served basis, so deadlines to guarantee space vary.

If you are a student in care or are experiencing homelessness, resources are available to assist with your housing at Illinois. Learn more.

New Student Registration

You’ll meet with your academic advisor prior to registering for spring courses, and you’ll have the ability to set up individual advising and course registration appointments beginning in November. The last possible date for registration appointments is January 16.

Placement

If you are required to take placement tests, they should be completed prior to your advising and registration appointment. Placement tests will be available in early November.

Test Scores

First-Years: You must send official scores directly from the testing agency for all scores self-reported on the application by December 1. Official test scores not yet received will be listed on your admitted checklist in myIllini.

Transcripts & Schedule Changes

Final college transcripts need to be sent to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions as soon as final grades are posted. First-year students need to have final high school transcripts sent by December 1, or as soon as final grades are posted if graduating after December 1.

We must approve changes to your college schedule before you make them as they could impact your admission status. If you’re planning a change in your schedule, submit the online Course Change Form found at the bottom of your admitted checklist in myIllini.

Additional Credit

First-Years: Per Student Code Policy, all off-campus collegiate work must be reported. Any coursework that is transferable will be added to your Illinois academic record. Have official transcripts sent from the issuing institution as soon as grades are posted. You may also receive credit for AP or IB exams, which must be sent directly from the testing center.

Transfers: You may receive credit for AP or IB exams. Exam results must be sent directly from the testing center.

Required Immunizations

Immunization forms must be completed and submitted to McKinley Health Center by December 1. International students may bring completed forms to campus.

Tuition & Payment Options

Once a month, an email will be sent to you through your Illinois email address, reminding you to view your student account for recent activity and to make any payments by the due date. We don’t mail paper billing statements.

To allow parents or others to view and make payments for tuition, fees, and University Housing charges, you must grant them access to your student account as an Authorized Payer.

I-20 Application

International students who require an I-20 must submit the online I-20 application. Our SEVIS school codes are CHI214F01070000 for F-1 visa holders and P-1-00209 for J-1 visa holders.
