China – Application Help
Students from China can use this guide for help completing the Self‑Reported Academic Record (SRAR) after submitting the Common App.
Education Section
- Enter your school.
- Under the Grading Scale/Conversion, select Other.
- Click New Scale/Conversion and enter the numerical ranges that equate to letter grades.

Courses Section
Chinese National Curriculum
For grades 9 to 11, report:
- The grade, mark, or descriptor you earned
- The maximum possible grade for that course
For grade 12:
- If you finished the year, report your final grade and the maximum grade
- If you are still in the year, select In Progress (IP)
- Civics and Politics should be listed under Subject type “Social Science”
O Levels/GCSEs and IB Programs
For students who took O Levels/GCSEs and then switched to an IB program:
- Report only grade 11 and 12 IB courses
- Include the level (IB SL or IB HL)
- Write out the full course names
Then report your O Levels/GCSEs in the SRAR section called International External Exam Results.
