Campus Visit FAQ

May I schedule a campus visit without calling?

Yes, you can schedule your campus visit entirely online.

Can parents/guests attend the visit with me?

While parents/guests aren’t required in order for you to visit, they (including children) are most certainly welcome! Just be sure that the total number of guests you’re bringing matches the number you provided on our form and doesn’t exceed the total allowed on that form.

Are campus visits free?

You do not have to pay a fee to sign up for any of our campus visits! Please note that free parking is not available on weekdays for visitors driving to campus, and lunch is not provided unless otherwise indicated.

What’s the difference between a campus tour and a college visit, and should I sign up for both when scheduling my visit?

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions hosts campus tours which provide information about the university in general, while our college visits are hosted by our colleges and schools and provide information specific to their majors and programs of study.

We encourage you to sign up for both, if your schedule allows and you’re interested in learning more about any of our colleges and schools.

What will my visit agenda include?

Your visit agenda will depend on how you build your visit. Each visit option includes its own schedule and experience, so be sure to review program descriptions before registering. After you register, we’ll send additional details and important information to your email.

May I meet with a college or academic representative while on campus?

Yes, although available dates vary by college and school. View our college visit options.

May I visit a class while on campus?

Each of our colleges and schools offers different programming. View our college visit options.

I have financial aid questions. May I meet with your financial aid office while on campus?

Yes, our Office of Student Financial Aid has walk-in hours available for speaking with financial aid counselors. No appointments are necessary.

May I tour a residence hall while on campus?

Of course! Our campus tour includes a brief housing tour, but you can also schedule a separate housing tour.

How do I get to campus?

Champaign-Urbana is easily accessed car, train, or plane. Please check the location of your specific visit event since programs are held across campus.

Where do I park when visiting?

No free parking is available on weekdays. Unless specified otherwise, you should park at a meter to avoid receiving a ticket.

Review parking options when you plan your visit.

What if I want to stay overnight?

Because more than 30,000 people visit us each year, we’re unable to schedule overnight visits. However, prospective students are welcome to make individual arrangements with friends on campus. Visitors may also check out local accommodations.

How do I cancel my visit?

When signing up for your visit, you should have received a confirmation email that includes a link to your registration. You can click on this link to cancel your visit, or you can email or call our Campus Visit team to let them know you can no longer attend.
